What is telemetry? Telemetry is essentially system control and data acquisition from a remote location. Telemetry is typically used to gather data from distant, inaccessible locations, or when data collection would be dangerous or difficult for a variety of reasons. Apart from monitoring these systems are used in controlling, outstations comprising pumping stations or sewage treatment systems from a central control point. The transmitting of information between locations may be carried out via a radio system or alternatively land lines (PSTN system or private wire).
